The arrival of New Year’s Day wraps up yet another holiday season. Whether you’re sad it’s over or happy to say “sayonara” to 2024, chances are good that you may have a few errands, returns or after-Christmas shopping to cross off your to-do list this New Year’s.
Or perhaps you’ve got a gift card burning a hole in your wallet or simply need to stock on groceries or other essentials before returning to work. Regardless, you may be wondering what Walmart’s New Year’s hours are this year. Given the holidays are a seriously busy time, it can be difficult to keep up with various stores’ open and close times since so many of them have special or adjusted hours throughout the season.

But what about Walmart? Fortunately, TODAY.com spoke to a Walmart spokesperson to get all the details, and here’s what you need to know about Walmart’s New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day hours to help start the new year off on the right foot.
Walmart New Year’s Eve hours 2024
New Year’s Eve falls on Tuesday, Dec. 31, this year.
In the final hours of 2024, Walmart will be open for business as usual on New Year’s Eve during normal hours. So, if you need last-minute ingredients for your New Year’s cocktails or toothpicks for appetizers, you’ll have plenty of time to pick up everything you need.
As always, since hours may vary from store to store, confirm your local store hours before heading out the door.
Walmart New Year’s Day 2025 hours
Walmart was closed on both Thanksgiving and Christmas this year to allow their employees to enjoy a day off. But what about New Year’s Day 2025?
While some other major retailers like Costco and Aldi will be closed in observance of the holiday, Walmart will be open.
According to a spokesperson, “All stores will operate during normal business hours.”
However, since different store locations have varying open and close times, you should definitely take a minute to confirm your local store hours before heading out the door.
